CALLING ALL NORTH DALLAS RUNNERS AND WALKERS!

The annual White Rock Lake Half Marathon (13.1 miles) will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2009. Completing an endurance event produces a great sense of personal accomplishment! You train with friends and deepen relationships in the process. You reach personal fitness goals. But what if you competed for something more...?

What if you actually trained for a race in order to radically change the life of endangered little girls destined for the sex trade as young as 5 yrs of age?

What if every mile you completed brought orphan care to girls whose mothers work in brothels to survive?

So, we have an exciting idea! Let’s run The White Rock Lake Half Marathon! Together we can reach a goal that we could not reach alone. Charasia, a non-profit organization in India, is rescuing these little girls and providing orphan care. Would you consider running/walking the December half marathon to raise money and awareness in support of these innocent girls? We would like to see more than 100 runners and walkers from this North Dallas area. The monies raised through running or walking this race will go directly to rescuing and caring for orphan girls like Kiran in India. To read her story, go to www.charasia.org.

If you are a new runner, or haven’t ever run before, we will encourage you to train from Jeff Galloways’ training schedule http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.htm or get the active.com plan to walk the half. Both are low injury plan for training. We will meet periodically to run/walk our long distances together.

We hope you will share our passion about raising awareness of the plight of these girls and making a difference in their lives. Get your running/walking shoes on, here we go!
